In response to the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, New Hope Compassion invites you to a special benefit concert at the Museum of Biblical Art on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

Donation proceeds will go towards missions in helping Ukrainian orphans and refugees who have been affected by this tragic war.

Featured artists will include the master saxophonist Ner de Leon, award-winning sopranos Juliet Du, inspiring guitarist Wyatt Martin, and gold medalist international pianist Dongni Xie.

EVENT DETAILS

New Hope Compassion provides hope and compassion through outreach programs, equipping leaders and supporting those in need.  We serve as a bridge builder to pave the way in collaboration with strategic partners to reach the needy, unreached, and the underserved. We are excited about our special evening of music which aims to raise funds for a cause related to Ukraine. The event will feature four incredibly talented solo artists who will entertain our audience with beautiful music.

  • Ms Juliet Du, an award-winning soprano who has performed in some of the most prestigious opera houses and concert halls around the world. Her exquisite voice and passionate performances are sure to captivate our audience.
  • Dr Dongni Xie, a gold medalist of multiple international piano competitions, college professor and Artistic Director of S&Y Culture. She has concertized all over the world including Carnegie Hall and Meyerson Symphony Center.
  • Wyatt Martin, a gifted and inspiring guitarist produced two solo albums and is currently recording a group album.
  • Ner de Leon, a master contemporary jazz saxophonist who has made a name for himself with his unique style and incredible improvisation skills. He has performed with some of the biggest names in the music industry and his performances will leave you in awe.

MEET THE ARTISTS

Juliet du

Juliet Du is a highly accomplished musician and CEO of S&Y Culture Company, specializing in concert planning and management. Former lead singer and chorus conductor of Shanghai Philharmonic Choir.

She holds a Master of Arts degree from DBU and has won several awards for her conducting, including the Gold Medal at the 6th World Choral Festival. As a talented singer, she was once recognized as one of the top ten singers in the Chinese Love Song Radio and Television Contest. Juliet’s performance of the song “Calling” at the Shanghai World Expo was named one of China’s top ten songs.

In 2019, she demonstrated her event planning and management abilities by organizing and holding the world-famous baritone Milness concert and master class in both Dallas and Shanghai.

DONGNI XIE

Dongni Xie is a first prize winner of many international piano competitions. She appears as one of the guest artists of the Cliburn foundation as well as the legendary pianists of the Achúcarro foundation

Xie is in demand throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, having performed in venues including Carnegie Hall, Château de Fontainebleau (France), Dream Forest Arts Center (South Korea), Gijon City Hall (Spain), and the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (US). Xie has been praised for her “bold and riveting” (Peninsula) and “bravura performance…mature and relaxed, perfectly in line with its composer’s presumed intention.” (Herald Tribune). She has appeared as soloist playing with orchestras in California, Colorado and Texas, including Season Opening Concert of the Boulder Symphony Orchestra and Season Finale Concert of the Meadows Symphony Orchestra. She boasts appearances as featured artist at many international music festivals, including the Imago Sloveniae (Slovenia), Festival ARTIS (Slovakia), and the August Music Festival (UK) to name but a few. In the 2023-24 season, Xie will perform with orchestras and in recitals across US and Europe.

Xie performs frequently in Dallas and the Fort Worth metroplex. An avid performer at music educational programs designed to create social change, she finds fulfillment in giving back to local communities and promoting classical music to the younger generation.

Xie is a leader in the interplay between classical and modern music, having founded In6ix, a sextet combining both jazz and classical styles. She successfully led her group as pianist on tour throughout China in 2019, giving concerts and master classes. Recently co-founded the concert series Live! Again based out of Dallas and Houston, she has brought a unique way to experience new music and modern arts in her community.

As an academic, Xie has been invited to give lectures at universities and colleges in the United States and Asia, and to deliver master classes at venues throughout China and clinics at local MTA events in the United States. She is an Adjunct Professor at Tarrant County College.

Xie obtained her doctorate in Piano Performance at the University of North Texas where she won a Teaching Fellowship. She earned degrees and diplomas from Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, University of Southern California, and Shanghai Conservatory of Music, having studied with Dr. Pamela Mia Paul, Norman Krieger, Yong Hi Moon, and Chen

Jiang respectively. She is a recipient of the Meadows Artistic Scholarship Award, with which she worked with maestro Joaquín Achúcarro.

wYATT MARTIN

Wyatt Martin is an artist with original music and poetry written and performed by a man with a soul beyond his years. Wyatt’s life experiences are those of a journeyman immersed in unique cultures and languages. The child of missionaries, Wyatt was born in Japan, raised and formally educated in China, and his experiences continued while living in Africa, Mexico and finally the United States. Today Wyatt calls Texas home. 

The artistic community of North Texas is blessed to have him floating about and sharing his music with a thoughtful spirit interwoven into his craft. He and his band, Wyatt & the Harbingers sing tales of life’s adventures, lost stories, love, inspiration, faith and the wonders of things to come.

Wyatt Martin has recorded two solo albums – ‘Riddles’ and ‘Seven Years’. Today Wyatt & the Harbingers are working on recording their first album as a group.

 

nER DE LEON

Ner de Leon is a contemporary saxophonist, recording artist, record producer and master musician. Ner de Leon has set the bar high in his 30 years plus as a performer.

Though Ner de Leon hails from a long line of musicians and has been playing the saxophone since he was eight years old. Clearly having music genes running in his blood. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where he developed a new passion, respect, and love for his craft. Thus, he became a brilliant instrumentalist and set the stage for a prolific career that would include performing in big and small venues as a solo artist.

Ner has developed a timber that distinguishes his unique style and sound, which truly sets him apart from the rest. He has released eight albums as an independent recording artist to date.
As a performer, he has traveled to many countries and plunged himself in different avenues of music from performing as a session player, jazz artist in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, recorded and performed with various artists.

As an event show master, Ner de Leon shines when performing in any type of crowds- from concerts, private and corporate events, church events, lounge music, to jazz festivals. His style spans to a wide genre of music from classical to jazz, pop, gospel, R&B, Motown, ballads, dance, cover tunes and so much more. With such an extensive repertoire, Ner is the perfect accompaniment to any celebration.
