Highlights of Community Outreach by providing CarePaks to our homeless and underserved communities:
MENTORSHIP & TRAINING PROGRAM
PROVIDING MENTORING TO THE COMMUNITY
UNIVERSITY mentorship
Volunteering with Tarrant County College’s All-Stars Leadership program where students can discover their personal leadership style as well as increase their leadership competence. Students were able to improve their social skills and develop mutually trustworthy and rewarding inter- and intra-personal relationships with peers, faculty, and staff. In the process, students learn to construct a resume, define, and analyze conflict, demonstrate ways to overcome obstacles while practicing civility, and enhance their decision-making capabilities among other skills.
BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE
PROVIDING SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO HOMELESS CHILDREN
Backpacks for Homeless children
New Hope Compassion in collaboration with AACATX’s business association on this year’s Back to School Backpack Drive for homeless school children. Over 125 filled backpacks were assembled and donated to Dallas Independent School District’s Homeless Education, Northwest Community Center’s refugee outreach, and Rainbow Day’s homeless Back to School program where over 800 backpacks were distributed at their outreach event.
Senior Community Center
VOLUNTEERING HELP FOR OUR SENIOR COMMUNITIES
Technology assistance for senior community
Our volunteers have provided technology assistance to digital challenged seniors. Many of the elderly are isolated, especially during the pandemic, and lack the knowledge to connect virtually with their family and friends. Some do not have any family close by to assist or some are just too proud to ask. We provided simple computer help, tablet and phone setup, online and app implementation, and basic helpdesk support. We will offer in-person workshops and personal tutoring in the future.
Other volunteering areas include fellowship activities, exercise and wellness programs, and group support.
CHILDREN'S SHOES MISSION
DONATING SHOES TO CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD
ONEDAY2020 Shoes
New Hope Compassion partnered with Operation Care International’s OneDay2020 Children’s Shoe donation project during the Christmas period of 2020. NHC is blessed with the opportunity to assist OCI’s shoe mission by connecting strategic in-country partners to provided children shoes to over 30,000 impoverish children at 43 countries throughout the world.
